Bakewell Photographic Circle's Annual Dinner was held at the Devonshire Arms at Baslow on the 22nd May. 34 Members and guests attended and enjoyed a most entertaining evening, an exhibition of the trophy winning prints and slides, and entertainment provided by members Richard Corkill and Linda Dyson including "Runcorn Ferry" by Marriott Edgar. Linda Dyson arranged the Dinner and thanks are due to the many members who helped to make the evening a success.

The trophies were presented by Mrs. Mary Keating, seen here presenting the Kut Rite Rose Bowl to Linda Dyson, for the best colour print in the Theme competition (shown below). Jim Edmondson won four of the trophies and has also gained major awards in several salons and exhibitions throughout the country. Chairman Garry Wingrove and members Les Nixon and Ian Daisley were the other trophy winners this year and have also won many other awards countrywide . The Circle has enjoyed another successful year with many members exhibiting their images and winning awards at exhibitions throughout the country.
Bakewell Photographic Circle recently heard that their Lottery grant application for £2,350 under the 'Awards For All' scheme had been successful and together with another successful grant from the Derbyshire Dales Community Grant Scheme they were now in a position to purchase a laptop computer and a digital projector for the Circle's meetings.
The Circle's Chairman, Garry Wingrove said, "The members had been looking for a way to present the images taken on their digital cameras but the cost of the equipment was proving to be a big drawback but thanks to these two grants and fund raising by the members the Circle will now be able to buy the necessary equipment". He went on to say "The Circle is a friendly and flourishing one but it wanted to embrace the new technology and with this equipment it will be able to do so. I hope the new equipment will also encourage people to come along and join the Circle, as new members are always welcome".
