Bakewell Photographic Circle's Annual Dinner was held at the Rutland Arms Hotel at Bakewell on the 21st May. 25 Members and guests attended and enjoyed a most entertaining evening, an exhibition of the trophy winning prints and slides, and entertainment provided by members Richard Corkill and Linda Dyson. Jackie Ellis arranged the Dinner and thanks are due to the many members who helped to make the evening a success.
The trophies were presented by Mrs. Mary Keating, seen here presenting the Seville Trophy to Garry Wingrove, for the best colour print of the year. Jim Edmondson won three of the trophies. Chairman Garry Wingrove and members Les Nixon, Ian Daisley, Keith Jeffreys and Stephanie Adams were the other trophy winners this year at Bakewell and have also won many other trophies and awards countrywide . The Circle has enjoyed another successful year with many members exhibiting their images and winning awards at exhibitions throughout the country. The latest success was the North & East Midlands Print competition at Chesterfield on the 18th May when Bakewell was the winner and Jim Edmondson was awarded the trophy for the best print. This qualifies Bakewell to go forward to the PAGB final print competition at Chester in October this year.

Everyone's gone digital
Even myself
And our old SLRs
Are left on the shelf
Now it's all flashcards
Megapixels and bytes
A new generation
Reaching new heights
There's no need to worry
About losing the shot
Keep on pressing
And just take a lot
If your photo's rubbish
Too bright or too dim
Then just press a button
It goes in the bin
Times are a changing
At such a fast rate
And all our new toys
Soon will be out of date
Will anyone want
My old SLR
I don't think they will
There's a new rising star
